A native Houstonian, Lain began her career as a radio news announcer and part time TV anchor while in college. Her passion for news and “truth” propelled her into the newspaper medium where she began to work as a general assignments reporter for various publications including The Galveston County Daily News, the Houston Chronicle and other community-oriented news journals. While she had a passion for news, she also had a strong sense of creativity and began to offer marketing and advertising consultation services within a broad range of industries. After developing several strategic marketing plans and continuing to work as an advertising copywriter, she went on to further her creative writing studies at Rice University in Houston, Texas and one of the most prestigious acting schools in the world - the Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute in Los Angeles, California, where she studied writing for film and method acting. Lain returned to her home state of Texas where her flair for creativity and vision in story development lead her to a local TV production company where she conceived and developed a screen play for distribution as a TV movie.
Her strengths are: “Strategic Creativity,” using the power of words to attract, persuade and motivate consumers. She’s also known for her great sense of humor and professional integrity in the workplace.
She continued to work as a communications writer and marketing consultant for Fortune 500 companies in the energy and oil and gas industry in Houston. After operating as an independent marketing consultant for 6-years, Lain accepted a corporate role as Director of Creative Writing for a national insurance company and focused on direct mail marketing campaigns, product development initiatives and brand stewardship. After serving successfully in that role, she was offered a copywriting and management position with another Fortune 500 company, Harrah’s Entertainment, Inc. in Tunica, Mississippi, where she served as Advertising Supervisor and focused heavily on customer relationship marketing within a prominent consumer loyalty marketing program. She then learned of her passion and innate talent for audience segmentation and target marketing. Lain excelled in targeted messaging and heavy brand positioning while exceeding projected plans in ROI and ROS - and enjoyed seeing high redemption rates within specifically designed targeted marketing projects she developed.
Lain has also served as an advocate and public speaker for victims of domestic violence. Additionally, she focuses on offering charitable contributions in a variety of industries and worked as a Red Cross volunteer with Disaster Relief Services during Hurricane Rita, in Houston, Texas. Another of her passionate causes is The Society Against Child Abuse. She currently serves as a volunteer teenage mentor and offers her teaching skills in Christian development to a variety of age groups. She aspires to serve as encouragement to others in times of personal crisis, and continues to volunteer in venues where she can offer positive insight, evoke inspiration and emotions of confidence and belief in ones’ personal strengths.
Born and raised in Houston, Texas, Kim G Lain currently resides in Hernando, Mississippi with her children and personal and professional aspirations!
